SkinPen Microneedling is a cosmetic procedure that uses multiple fine needles to vertically pierce the skin causing collagen remodeling. The SkinPen uses precise settings to reach a particular depth in the skin while minimizing damage to the topical skin. This treatment is used to treat scars from acne, new stretch marks, scars from burns or accidents as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Microneedling is safe to use on all skin types and colors without risk of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation. Microneedling can be performed on all parts of the body including neck, décolleté, arms, legs and abdomen. The number of treatments needed depends on individual cases, however, microneedling can be safely performed every 4-6 weeks. For best results, treatments are recommended monthly for at least 3 months to see optimal collagen production. * Does Microneedling Hurt? Prior to the treatment, a topical anesthetic will be applied to the treatment area(s) and will sit on your skin for 15-30 minutes. A little discomfort is normal during the treatment, but most people find it completely tolerable. *Is There Any Downtime? There is very little downtime with this treatment. It is normal to experience mild redness in the treated area, similar to sunburn. The redness will subside within a few hours. We recommend that you don’t apply makeup after microneedling, but a mineral makeup can be applied the next day.
